Growth Spurt?!!

Alex fell asleep twice while playing yesterday. This photo was take in the morning before he went to daycare. In the evening, both Alex and John fell asleep on Alex's bedroom floor while playing.

Alex has been sleeping a lot lately. The first thing that comes to my mind: growth spurt!?

PSA

Public Service Announcement: Skylights are known to leak. We did not investigate this when we bought our house. John is fixing ours; I am thankful for my handy husband. During this process, we had a hole in our family room ceiling.

Remember the Alamo!

Alex made his first trip to the Alamo today. He enjoyed looking around, especially at the rustic walls and large chandeliers. My aunt was in town for a conference, so it was great to spend some time with her.

Football Season

Alex got to watch a little of the Cowboys' game today with his Daddy. We brought out his football from Grampa, but Alex only wanted to chew on it.

New Car Seat

Someone is quickly outgrowing his infant seat! It was time to buy a new one. Alex and Shrek both had to try out the new seat. The photos were taken on 9/17/09. Now we have the fun task of installing the seat...

Rings

Here are photos of Alex playing with his rings (and teething). Some toys are timeless. The photos were taken on September 12, 2009.

Alex's First Video

I took this with our digital camera when I was trying to get a good shot of Alex putting his foot in his mouth. The video was taken on September 7, 2009.

Teething

Alex has been a little cranky this weekend for good reason. Two teeth have cut through on the bottom in the center.

Rolling

Alex rolled across the floor yesterday at daycare. He went from the playmat to the carpet to the tile. He was not happy with how cold the tile was. We tried for a repeat performance at home last night, but he was too tired. Maybe he will show off his new skills this weekend.

Foot in Mouth

Alex can now get his foot into his mouth, but he will not do this long enough for us to get a picture.
Updated: I got one blurry picture!

When Alex goes to bed

Frida takes over the Boppy! At least she had a bath yesterday...

6 month photo with Shrek

It is hard work being cute!

Chewing on his hand

and drooling!

Daddy's Outfit

John's mom brought Alex one of the outfits that John wore as a baby.

Practice Sitting

John is having Alex practice sitting and he is getting better at it bit-by-bit.

Peas Interrupted

Alex threw up some of his peas yesterday! He was so excited about them that we gave him too much. This is what John and I call experimental parenting. As the first-born, he gets parents who are "newbies." He is doing much better today, but we are holding off on the peas for now...

Peas

Alex had his first vegetable today: peas. He liked them and ate well! He'll have peas for four days before moving on to carrots. His pediatrician recommended trying veggies first, then fruits, then meats.

Feet

These days, Alex really likes playing with his feet. His hands are entertaining too.

Six Months

Alex is now six months old, and had his check-up today. He is 17 pounds and 15 ounces. (I had guessed 18 pounds, so I was close.) He is 28 inches long and has about one more inch to go before he outgrows his infant car seat. He weight is between the 50th and 75th percentile, but his length is between the 90-95th percentile. We may have a tall one! He is healthy and happy. He also gets to start vegetables.

Daily Reports

We receive a daily report from daycare. Most are pretty standard, but yesterday's was a little different, "left leg caught in crib during nap. Area red. Removed with soap & water." Alex getting harder to contain.

Last week at daycare (August 25), Alex got to paint for the first time. Alexander "Picasso" is in his blue period and made his first masterpiece with his feet and blue paint. His teacher had to explain why he still had a little blue paint around his toes when I came to pick him up. He had so much fun, that he fell asleep in the car around 5:30 PM and did not wake up until 11:30 PM. (Alex is now going to bed between 7:30-8 PM most nights and will usually sleep until 4:30 or 5:30 AM.)
