Birthday Cards

Lately I have been making cards more than I have been scrapbooking. It is not for a lack of pictures (as you can see on this blog). I have started making digital photobooks due to the abundance of photos that we take of Alex. There is no way that I could scrap them all and Shutterfly runs deals on their photobooks pretty regularly. Cards are faster to create, which is great for me these days.

I have a new favorite card by Andrea Walford to CASE from here. I have already made a couple of birthday cards by modifying the paper and embellishment.

Playing

Alex likes sitting in his Bumbo. John helped Alex practice sitting up on his own today, but he still has a ways to go on that one.

Trying out the Backpack

Hand-me-downs are a wonderful thing! Last week John and Alex tested out the baby backpack.

Cereal Part III

Alex is liking cereal more now. He will start having it twice a day at daycare next week.

Playing

I am off work for two days while the UTSA Child Development Center is closed for training. Yesterday we spent the day with Kat and Toby. We went for a walk at Woodlawn Lake, went out to lunch, shopped for cute little boys clothes, and played.

This morning, Alex had fun playing at home. Frida came over to play with us too. Alex likes the ball on his play mat and has been practicing rolling over.

Rolling over

Alex rolled over from his back to his tummy unprompted today. He still loves his crib mobile!

Grocery Store

Alex made his first trip to a grocery store yesterday. We went to Central Market. He slept part of the time and then woke up with a smile on his face.

Jenni took the first picture and John took the second, both with their cell phones.

At 5 Months

At 5 months, Alex likes to hold his own bottle even if it is for only part of a feeding. He can sit in the Bumbo chair. He likes books, especially if he can chew on them. With coaxing, he will roll over from his tummy to his back.

Beach Trip

We went to Corpus Christi, Texas (North Padre Island) on August 1 & 2 to celebrate our fifth anniversary. We did not end up bring Alex into the sand and water with us. I had forgotten how messy the beach is, and there will be more trips in the future when he is older. It was so different to travel with a baby. It is good to have a ratio of three adults to one baby. Alex was good and enjoyed the "tent" we made to keep him out of the sun.
