Last year, I took a blogging class at Shimelle.com with ladies from all over the world. I still read Allison's blog, and she participates in Storytelling Sundays on Sian's blog. I was just thinking about how blogging has helped me to enjoy writing more. This seems like a good time to jump in, and it is still Sunday here in California.
Alex wants to be a Firefighter
Alex and I stopped at the FedEx store on Friday to fax documents for the sale of our house in Texas. We talked about how people worked there and at the surrounding stores. I started telling him about all of the different jobs that I could think of in that moment. "Daddy works on computers." You can drive a truck or a cab." We moved onto firefighters, which Alex really likes right now. He goes around saying, "Firefighters to the rescue!" By the end of our conversation, he decided that he wants to be a firefighter. This is his first interest in a profession, and I am sure that it will evolve over time. Growing up, I remember wanting to be an astronaut, teacher, writer, doctor, psychologist, and then back to teacher. (I may still have time to be some of those things.) I certainly did not grow up planning to become an academic advisor.
Sweet photo. I wanted to be a nurse ... until I realised just how badly they were paid!
Hi Sara - it's an absolute pleasure to have you with us this month! This is such a great story to record - whatever he ends up becoming - and such a cute picture. Thank you so much for adding your story
lovely story - my son (aged 5.5) has just announced he wants to be a baker, and have bakery shops all around town. he spent all thursday night baking things in his little sister's play kitchen. you've got to love the imagination of little ones!!!!
How brilliant that you've decided to join us Sara! Alex is growing fast-and you're right, he will probably change his mind many more times..Kirsty STILL doesn't know what she wants to do-and she's 22!!
I have photos of Ewok at that age when yep, he wanted to be a fire fighter too! So glad you've joined us :)
What a cute photo! Doesn't every boy at some stage want to be a firefighter??? My boys are 13 and 14 and they still keep changing their minds. I just tell them to keep their options open by studying hard. One day they will know :-) Although I have yet to do anything I had planned on ...
my DS when he was younger said he wanted to be a daddy, a builder and a zoo keeper and yes that was all at the same time! Now he wants to be a games tester for xbox (he is 10!)
